Buchanan and Neuhoff by Patrick G. Eriksson and Rob Buchanan with Juha Vaittinen
I have the privilege to publish this article by Rob Buchanan and Patrick Eriksson, the author of the recently published Alarmstart: The German Fighter Pilot's Experience in the Second World War: Northwestern Europe – from the Battle of Britain to the Battle of Germany. See: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Alarmstart-Fighter-Experience-Northwestern-Britain/dp/1445671220/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1515654750&sr=8-2&keywords=Patrick+eriksson
The article tells about the military pilot career of George Buchanan from his first training flight onwards based on his logbook. His training took place during and immediately after the Battle of Britain. He fought some months on the Channel Front and was then transferred to Malta, where he was one of the first Spitfire fighter pilots operating over the island. In the article Eriksson and Rob Buchanan also analyse George Buchanan’s encounter with Leutnant Hermann Neuhoff, the leading ace of III./JG 53 at that time, on April 10, 1942, during which Neuhoff was shot down.
